A few reviews from those who have caravanned with us.

I've traveled with these guys through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina, even after being locked in a mountain town in Panama for a month after protests shut the country down. We've had some amazing times together, and they've saved my bacon more than once. On one occasion they helped run a box of motorcycle parts from Peru into Bolivia for me after my Peruvian visa expired. On another occasion, I was able to do a venmo transaction to Alex and he gave me USD cash to survive on while i waited for credit and debit cards to be shipped into Peru from the states. They're more than capable, they're flexible, and know how to get around unique circumstances with their head on a swivel. They've helped me out so much! It's what overlanders do for each other!

My partner Derek and I travelled with Alex & Ana for two months throughout the southern portion of Baja. It was truly the best vacation we’ve had. Traveling into a foreign country was a little nerve wracking, but as soon as we met Alex & Ana we bonded so quickly and became like family.
Alex was an awesome translator for us. He was able to ask locals permission to stay at beautiful beach spots and ask what the fun song we heard in the grocery store. They are the sweetest, kindest people and it wouldn’t have been half the trip it was without them. We shared meals, laughs, stories and truly made friends for life. Oh, and we also still miss Ana’s smoothies, they’re delicious!

My partner Bre and I caravanned in Baja Mexico for two months with Alex, Ana, and the goodest boy Paquito.
These are the most positive people I have ever met. They will truly push you out of your comfort zone in the best ways possible. From driving down bumpy roads, to going on hidden waterfall hikes, and even chatting with locals at the bars/restaurants in town, these are moments we cherish and will remember for the rest of our lives. Hope to see you on a caravan again soon!

My husband and I travelled for 4 1/2 years in our self converted Ford Transit van. We met Alex and his sweet dog, Paquito, in Mexico and met Anna several countries later.
We instantly became friends especially after Alex invited us to use his starlink! That was super generous of him. We stayed close friends via Whatapp and Alex was super helpful in preventing us from getting caught in protests in Panama. We eventually connected in person again in Panama and were able to ship our vans to Colombia together. We delighted in Alex’s attention to detail and relied on him to help us get our lithium batteries from Panama to Colombia. It was a big problem to solve and Alex wouldn’t rest until he had a solution for all of us. We met a LOT of people in our 4 years on the road. Alex and Anna are two friends that we cherish deeply and know we will have in our lives forever.
If you are wanting to do a fun adventure in Baja but are a little nervous or overwhelmed with all the details to make it happen then Alex is your guy. Let him take care of the planning and you just show up and have fun! Hurray for Baja Good!

It was a pleasure to travel with Alex, Ana and Paquito through Mexico, Central and South America. Alex is a curious and confident travel leader, Ana is the cheerful lieutenant, and Paquito models chill acceptance of whatever the road brings. I would highly recommend that you allow them to guide you through Baja California and show you its beauty!

Traveling with Ana, Alex, and Paquito through Bolivia was an unforgettable adventure!
Over about three weeks, we crossed almost the entire country — mostly off the beaten path. From breathtaking off-road trails to endless gravel roads, from two magical nights on the Salar de Uyuni to soaking in natural hot springs in Sajama National Park, every moment was incredible.
The absolute highlight was spending four days completely off the grid on the Laguna Route — pure wilderness, stunning scenery, and total freedom. It wasn’t always easy, but it was absolutely worth it.
Traveling with Ana and Alex was effortless — they’re super experienced overlanders, and their easygoing, positive attitude made the journey smooth and fun.
We shared tons of laughter, great conversations, and countless memories (and of course, Paquito, the dog, added his own special charm!).
We even met up again later in Argentina — including a wine-tasting bike tour in Mendoza — and it felt like traveling with old friends.
Absolutely fantastic travel companions — highly recommended!

I met Alex, Ana, and Paquito in Baja California, and we spent an unforgettable month together, including a magical Christmas Eve by the beach in Todos Santos, sharing homemade food and laughter. We created countless memories and some of the best experiences I’ve had during my travels through Central America.
Alex’s energy is incredible, he’s always up for an adventure and ready for anything that comes his way.
Ana has a calm and positive energy which makes it impossible not to like her.
Paquito is the embodiment of Mexican dog, always chilling in the sun.
I’m deeply grateful for the time we shared. My journey through Baja California wouldn’t have been the same without them.
Traveling with them is the perfect mix of fun and adventures, shared with genuine, friendly people who make you feel loved and safe. I 100% recommend it.

I met Alex and Anna completely by coincidence while traveling the Panamericana with my girlfriend, we crossed paths in Baja California and ended up spending quite some time together on the road.
From the very beginning, he struck me as an incredibly friendly, open, and fun person to travel with. He’s super competent when it comes to planning routes and logistics, but at the same time easygoing and spontaneous, the perfect mix for an adventure.
To be clear, I wasn’t part of one of his caravans, guided tours, or any of his official offers, we just happened to meet and clicked instantly. We even crossed together to mainland Mexico, and those memories are some of the best from our entire trip.
He travels with his awesome dog Paquito and his girlfriend Anna, both just as lovely as he is. I wish him all the best with his business and can highly recommend traveling with him if you ever get the chance.
And one more thing, if you have any questions about coffee, he’s your guy! He knows an insane amount about how coffee is grown, produced, and roasted.
Thanks again for the great time, amigo, hope our paths cross again somewhere on the road! 🌎☕🐕

Frequently Asked Questions
And maybe some not-so-frequently-asked questions you haven't thought of.
I don't have my own rig... can i still join?
Our 21-day flagship expeditions are catered to those with their own rigs. Most people join with a truck camper, van, or 4x4, but anything reliable with decent clearance works. We’ll help you pack the right stuff to make sure it's prepped for Baja.
Soon we’ll also offer 10-day, all-inclusive trips throughout Baja California Sur with vehicle + all meals included. Sign up here to be the first to know.
If you don't have your own vehicle, but you are super keen to join a 21-day expedition, there are rental options based out of Tijuana. Shoot us a message at hola@bajagood.com, and we can sort something out for your adventurous soul.
is 4x4 required?
Nope — 4x4 is great to have, but it’s not a dealbreaker. What matters most is that your vehicle is well-maintained (oil changes, filters, and all services up to date) and has decent ground clearance for Baja’s mix of paved roads, washboard dirt, and sandy beach tracks.
I’ve never overlanded before — is this trip for me?
Absolutely. We’re here to make it easy. You just bring your sense of adventure — we handle routes, campsites, border paperwork, and those awkward conversations with police at checkpoints if your español is not-so-bueno.
What about safety? Isn't Mexico dangerous?
We travel in a small convoy, carry recovery gear, and use radios to stay connected. We also make sure you’ll have cell service or internet when needed. Plus, we know the safe places to fuel up, park, and explore. We never drive at night and always avoid sketchy areas. Mexico can get a bad rep from the news. Don't let fear stop you from following your heart. We feel safer wild camping in Baja than in the United States, and most of our overlanding friends will tell you the same thing.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Baja is one of the most dog-friendly places you’ll ever visit. We’ll guide you through the necessary paperwork and vet requirements for the border. Paquito (my dog) is actually a rescue from Baja! If you want to adopt a dog, you'll have plenty of opportunities during this trip, as well!
What’s included in the price?
Guided route from start to finish, camping spots, permits, border document preparation, whale tour (when in season), and 10+ delicious group meals. You cover your own fuel, groceries, auto insurance, travel medical insurance, and any personal spending. We can help you organize auto and travel medical insurance through our partners.
How many people will be on the trip?
We keep it intimate — a maximum of 8 vehicles per expedition. That’s just enough rigs to create a lively caravan, share campfire stories, and swap road snacks… but small enough to stay flexible, slip into hidden campsites, and move as one tight-knit crew. By the end of the trip, it won’t feel like “a group” — it’ll feel like your people.
What if my vehicle breaks down?
We can’t perform miracles, but we do carry tools, basic spare parts, and recovery gear. Part of the mandatory paperwork to enter Mexico is Mexican auto insurance. We recommend Baja Bound — they are quick to respond and send help, when needed. We also require every vehicle to carry a full-sized spare tire.
How much drinking water do I need to carry?
We recommend having a water tank that can carry at least 25 liters of drinking water. If you want to shower, consider carrying more or bringing a separate "shower" tank that only needs fresh (and not 100% filtered) water. If you can't carry this much, don't stress. We know the best water fill-up stations to stock up when you run out.
i'm vegan/vegetarian... will i survive?
Yep. I’ve survived (and thrived) all over Latin America as a vegan, and Baja is no different. Bring a few staples from home, eat your fill of rice and beans, and know that most taco stands can “veganize” with a little friendly explaining. You might even leave with new favorite plant-based Baja recipes.
Do I really need insurance?
Yep, you sure do. Mexico requires auto insurance that actually covers you south of the border (your U.S. policy probably won’t fly), and we also require travel medical insurance for everyone on the trip.
What we personally use and recommend:
Auto Insurance: Baja Bound — quick, easy, and made for Baja road trips.
Travel Medical Insurance: SafetyWing — covers you when life throws surprises your way.
Think of it as your adventure safety net: you’ll probably never need it… but if you do, you’ll be very glad you have it.
What do I do about money?
Baja is big on cash, specifically pesos. We recommend bringing a bank card that allows for ATM withdrawals in foreign countries. There's also a great currency exchange spot right on the border if you want to trade in some USD at a good rate.
Will I make friends for life?
Almost guaranteed. Something about Baja’s beaches, long drives, and shared “did that just happen?” moments turns a group of strangers into a crew that stays in touch long after the trip. You might come for the adventure… but you’ll leave with people who feel like they’ve always been part of your story.
Can we stop for tacos whenever we see them?
It’s basically a rule. If you see a smoky roadside stand and your stomach says yes, we’re pulling over. That's what the walkie-talkies are for.
Is it true Baja sunsets are different?
Yes — they last longer, burn brighter, and make you forget what day it is. Side effects include sudden urges to stay another week.
Will I need a vacation from my vacation?
Nope. Our trips are about slowing down, not rushing. You’ll go home sun-kissed, salty-haired, and already planning your next Baja run.
Can I bring my kids?
We love kids — but this trip isn’t designed for them. Baja Good is rugged, remote, and runs on an adult pace. Long driving days, off-grid camping, and the occasional “dig your own bathroom” moment don’t always mix well with little ones.
Do you give back to the communities you travel through?
We do. Baja isn’t just a backdrop for adventure — it’s home to amazing people (and a lot of dogs). We donate 3% of our revenue to local dog rescue organizations along the peninsula. So every mile you drive with us helps a pup find food, shelter, or a forever home. Adventure + wagging tails = a pretty good trip, if you ask us.
can i just stay in mexico after the trip?
Absolutely! You don’t have to follow us back north. A lot of people fall in love with Baja and decide to stay forever, and others take the ferry to "mainland Mexico" and keep driving all the way down to Argentina (like we did). If that’s you, we’ll happily help you figure out the logistics at no extra charge. Plus, the caravan doesn’t start heading north until Day 17, so you’ll still get plenty of time to enjoy the full Baja Good experience before peeling off into your own adventure.
What if I Need to cancel?
We get it — plans change. Here’s the deal:
31+ days before your trip:
Your $500 deposit is non-refundable, but we’ll let you roll it over to another expedition if there’s space. Heads up though: your early bird discount won’t roll with it — that’s only for folks who stick with their original plan.
30 days out:
That’s when the balance is due. If you have already paid a deposit but haven’t paid the remaining balance, you’ll lose your spot. If you have paid, congrats — you’re officially locked in at the rate you booked.
Inside 30 days:
By this point we’ve already lined up permits, meals, and whale tours… so payments are non-refundable. If life throws you a curveball, we’ll do our best to help you rebook at a discount on a future trip, but no promises.
If we cancel (rare, but hey, Baja’s wild):
You get a 100% refund, or you can roll everything to another expedition. Your call.
Why do passengers cost less than drivers?
Great question. Our pricing is built to be fair whether you’re adventuring solo or rolling with a co-pilot:
Drivers pay the base rate because they bring the vehicle, handle the rig, and take up a full “spot” in the caravan.
Passengers pay less since they’re sharing the same rig — but we still cover their included meals, campground fees, whale tours, and all the good stuff.
That way:
Solos never feel like they’re paying double.
Couples and friends still get a sweet deal by splitting costs.
Everyone contributes fairly to the group adventure.
How do payments work? Is the deposit refundable?
To reserve your spot, you’ll put down a $500 non-refundable deposit. You can pay this securely through Stripe (credit/debit) or Wise, whichever is easiest. The remaining balance must be paid via Wise (it’s safe, international-friendly, and saves everyone big on fees). This way, more of your money goes toward your Baja adventure... not bank fees.
If you book inside 30 days of departure, the full balance is due at checkout (again, through Wise).
What if I have more questions?
We’ve got you covered. Before the trip, you’ll get a detailed PDF with everything you need to know — and probably a few things you didn’t even think to ask. Still curious? You can email us, send a WhatsApp message anytime, or even hop on a quick call. We also set up a private WhatsApp group for each expedition so everyone can swap info, stay in sync on the road, and keep the memories (and inside jokes) alive long after the adventure ends.
